Dear Friend,
Kermit Sutherland and I have become good friends since he assisted our
committee when we began the South Orange County Mayor’s and Supervisor’s
Prayer Breakfast.
For 21 years Kermit has helped local committees set up Mayor’s Prayer
Breakfasts similar to and patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast in
Washington D.C. Literally thousands of influential politicians, business and
community leaders have been impacted by Christ at these meetings. As a
consultant, he assists the organizing committee with all aspects of breakfast
details and has an outstanding “stable” of speakers. These dedicated and
successful individuals assure that each breakfast presents Jesus Christ clearly
and gives those in attendance an opportunity to receive Him personally.
Kermit now feels positive that through Prayer Breakfast Network and its plan,
he can within the next 5 years see every city in America reached in this unique
manner. I frankly do not know of another effort that is as successful at
reaching the unchurched civic and business leadership as these well-planned
Prayer Breakfasts.
Substantial “up front” dollars are needed to set up a breakfast in a new
town and monitor the committee’s efforts until they feel strong enough to
handle the annual event themselves. Kermit is seeking new partners, either
individually or in small groups, who will sponsor a city. A one-time gift of
$1000.00, or a $100.00 monthly gift for a year, will meet the need. All gifts
are tax deductible and you will receive a personal receipt and an up-to-date
newsletter.
Don and Barbara Hodel, former Secretary of Interior and Energy, who speak for
Kermit at these events have stated a number of times that, “Kermit is the
Johnny Appleseed of prayer breakfasts, starting them all over and spreading the
seed.”
I cannot be more enthusiastic about this unique ministry. Hearing, seeing,
and being a part of what God has done over the past 21 years has made me
confident that Kermit will succeed and that thousands more will meet the Lord.
Considering the situation in our country, this is a ministry that is needed as
never before.
Please pray about this challenge. I have enclosed one of Kermit’s envelopes
for any response.
Yours truly,
Dan Plies

Family and Friends,
September 11th will be the day that each of us will vividly remember in
reminiscing about the year 2001. I remember turning on the radio during my
drive to the office and having difficulty comprehending what had just happened
-- one building of the first World Trade Center had just been hit by a passenger
airliner. Then, shortly thereafter, the other building and the Pentagon
were hit. I will never forget my feelings of disbelief in watching the
buildings come down -- terror, families forever changed, and of course the
reality of knowing that the United States could indeed be attacked.
It is impossible to understand the senselessness of taking innocent lives.
However, what I am most concerned about is this: why does it take a catastrophe
for us to acknowledge God's importance in our lives as millions have done since
that fateful day?
In May of 1980, I was invited to a breakfast meeting where I was hoping to meet
new business prospects to help my struggling new practice. At that
meeting, a former professional baseball player spoke about his life and how he
learned that he needed God on a daily basis. I met another man at that
meeting, Kermit Sutherland, who invited me back the next week to hear another
speaker -- I accepted. Again the speaker spoke of having God in his daily
life -- and I finally understood what no bible school teacher had ever been able
to explain. That to know God was to have a personal relationship with the
living God -- and that not only could I have eternal life, but also, I could
enjoy life to its fullest right now. I became a believer on June 14, 1980
and have remained one since that day.
Kermit Sutherland and his wife Jan have dedicated their lives to bringing the
gospel message to those who would dare not set foot into a church. Their
ministry, Prayer Breakfast Network, is obviously close to my heart, and that is
why I was so honored when I was invited to join the Board of Directors after
several years of being a supporter.
At this critical time in our country's history, our leaders need a morality that
is God centered; business needs to be built on honest values; and, our families
need to be held together by God's example of sacrificial love. Prayer
Breakfast Network is an effective ministry that penetrates hearts and enriches
lives by sharing God's Word to those who need to hear it. PBN is fully
supported by people like you and me -- will you prayerfully consider joining our
support team? Materials are enclosed that explains how PBN works and how
you can become an integral part of our ministry.

Dear Mr. Sutherland:
Just a short note to let you know how much I enjoyed the Cerritos
Community Prayer Breakfast!
Your efforts, and that of the Committee, did not
go unnoticed. It was a great program, and judging by the number of
attendees, this is a wonderful event for the community.
I look forward to joining you again next year for
this inspirational gathering of prayer.
Sincerely,
Don Knabe
Supervisor, Fourth District

Dear Kermit:
Our Ninth MPB-Co. Judge Exec. Prayer Breakfast has just concluded. Am proud
to say that we did follow the PBN format from beginning to end. Did not
get an exact head count on "Spiritual Experiences," but it appeared that
approximately 100 hands were raised as having a Deeper Experience with God.
Approximately 400 in attendance.
Thanks for allowing us to use the PBN format, it works great, it really does.
Once we see if we "Broke Even" or went "Broke" we will share a part of the TITHE
that we always take off the top , and not off the bottom , to share with other
ministries.
Respectfully,
Frank D. R. WIlliams, Founder, CEo, CBA National

Dear Kermit:
I wanted to let you know we had a great breakfast with Frank (Pastore). What a powerful message!! We
had 170 for the morning with 5 cards marked that they had received Christ. I think it was
one of our best ones because he reached out so beautifully to the young males in the
audience. We are looking forward to next year.
God Bless,

Dear Kermit:
Thanks so much for your help with our recent Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. I think your
efforts in spreading these events across our nation are laudable and I wholeheartedly
endorse your program. The data you have accumulated and provide so cheerfully are a
tremendous help to those of us who are experienced in having a Prayer Breakfast. I know
that this wealth of information should make the job of starting a Breakfast so much
easier.
Please find our check enclosed to help in some small way with this task. And, again,
thank you.
Sincerely,
Mayor Neal Hertzmann

Kermit:
Some months ago I ordered and received a copy of "How to Organize and Lead an
Executive Style Prayer Breakfast."
I am working as the Secretary of the Prayer Breakfast Organizing Committee for the
Canadian Province of New Brunswick. We are planning our first province-wide Prayer
Breakfast for later this year.
We are finding your manual to be very helpful, indeed. Thank you for taking the time
and trouble to prepare this booklet and for your willingness to share your experience with
the Christian Prayer Breakfast movement.
Sincerely,
Gregg Finley

Dear Kermit:
We had our first Prayer Breakfast on May 2, 1998. Our theme was "Building up
your
Temple While Standing in the Gap". This Breakfast was for the Women of Zion Baptist
Church in Roswell, Georgia. We had over 200 women in attendance. Thank you for the book you
sent me on "How to Organize and Lead an Executive Style Prayer
Breakfast". We were able to
use this booklet for our planning and follow up. The newsletters have also been helpful.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Jeter
